Raising the Fleet: An Art/Science Initiative,  August 25 - September 10, 2009.
Opening reception Friday, August 28, 5 - 8 pm.  Come meet the artist and other exhibit collaborators.
This exhibit will feature the results of a recent art/science collaboration between artist Elinor Mossop, biologist Sam Bowser, and Joseph Zarzynski of Bateaux Below, Inc, a not-for-profit corporation that studies Lake George shipwrecks.  The team used their artistic talents and scientific expertise to develop new and exciting methods of exploring the underwater frontiers of Lake George. This collaborative endeavor reveals the intricate processes of art and science investigation.

Beyond the Bateaux—An Art/Science Initiative Workshop: August 29, 2009, 1-4 pm, at Wiawaka Holiday House. This workshop, designed to complement the Courthouse Gallery exhibit "Raising the Fleet", will be presented by artist Chris Moran, with assistance from the exhibition's art/science team.  Interested adults are invited to explore, create, collaborate and contribute to this hands-on workshop that will bring a deeper experience of the art exhibit and of natural history.  Using a variety of painting and drawing materials the facilitators and attendees will explore the nature of art/science collaboration through a visual arts experience. The workshop is free, but space is limited to 20 people; registration is absolutely required. Contact the Lake George Arts Project for a registration form to secure your seat in the workshop: (518) 668-2616.
