Employment Opportunities

PART-TIME (25 hours/week)

The Lake George Arts Project was established in 1977 to offer comprehensive programs in the arts. Our music and art programs include year-round Courthouse Gallery exhibitions, Jazz at the Lake in September, our Wednesday Night Summer Concert Series, Project Local, and many other visual arts and music events.

The Lake George Arts Project is also known for our creative and diverse fundraising events which include Bands and Beans, a chili and music fest in March; The Summer Sunset Cruise aboard the Adirondac on Lake George in June; a golf tournament in May & September; and a variety of other events. Admission to the Courthouse Gallery, Jazz Weekend, Summer Concerts, and many special events are free to the public.

Our mission is to provide exposure and income opportunities to professional and emerging artists, and to provide quality arts programming for the residents and visitors of the Lake George region.

The Lake George Arts Project Director of Exhibitions is a critical part of the Lake George Arts Project Team.  The Director of Exhibitions is tasked with managing between 6-8 on-site exhibitions in our Courthouse Gallery, our Project Local program, as well as our recently revived Collector’s Club program. The Director of Exhibitions will also work with the Executive Director to develop long-range plans for the exhibitions program, create new strategies to build awareness and increase visitorship, develop new engaging, mission-related programs, and enhance current programs.

The Lake George Arts Project offers a flexible schedule, generous time off and time earned policies and a hybrid work environment.

The Courthouse Gallery

The mission of our Courthouse Gallery is to provide exhibition opportunities to emerging and professional artists, with preference given to work created within the last 2 years, and to experimental or non-traditional work. We provide artists with a quality space where they can present a solid body of work in a solo or small group show. The gallery has historically also presented literary, musical, and visual art workshops, classes, presentations, readings, meetings, and other events.

• Convene and moderate our Exhibitions Selection Panel
Manage artist contracts and exhibition schedule
• Install and deinstall Courthouse Gallery Exhibitions exhibitions: (Prepare gallery space by spackling, painting, arrange and install exhibitions of 2-D and/or 3-D work, provide wall labels, exhibition price-lists, order or produce signage, prepare any gallery  engagement tools as needed, etc..)
• Coordinate and host gallery receptions and discussion(s) with exhibiting artists
• Track and process artwork sales

Project Local

Project Local is a new initiative that brings the artwork of local and regional artists into partner businesses and organizations in the Lake George Region.  Exhibitions are selected by the business or organization and can vary in length. Growing the number of venues participating in our Project Local program is an organizational priority.

Develop and Coordinate an Annual Call for Artists at Project Local sites
Provide site(s) with an artwork selection catalog (annually)
Coordinate an exhibitions calendar for participating venues
Work with artists to create a price sheet and labels for each exhibition
Assist artists (if needed) with install and/or deinstall of exhibitions

The Collector’s Club

In the past, the Collectors Club was an artwork subscription program. In its original form, members could sign up, donate at a certain level and would receive 4 works of original art for their collections. In 2020, we reimagined the program as an online art sales catalog designed to help support regional artists and The Lake George Arts Project in the early phases of the pandemic when arts participation and sales opportunities were few and far between. Recently, the program has evolved into an partnership-based artwork sales program. The Director of Exhibitions will be critical in the development and implementation of the Collector’s Club as an established program.
