Project: Power Up Lake George

Thank you to all of the artists who submitted for our Project: Power Up Public Art Program!  All of the submissions are currently being pulled together for the selection team.


Project: Power Up Lake George, a partnership between The Village of Lake George and the Lake George Arts Project, invites artists to submit proposals to design and paint traffic signal cabinets located in the Village of Lake George with the goals of enhancing the aesthetics of the Village, extending public art to new areas and unexpected places, and introducing art to the public in a creative and inventive way.


Application Opens: March 11, 2022
Application Closes: April 15, 2022
Selected Artist Meeting: May 12, 2022
Preparation & Priming: June 13 – June 16
Painting & Finishing:
June 29 – June 23


Who can apply?

This project is open to all local and regional artists living within a 50 mile radius of Lake George NY.  Both established and emerging artists art encouraged to apply. 

Submitting a proposal:

• Artists interested in submitting a design must fill out the online application and submit a design draft (using the provided template) to The Lake George Arts Project. The application can be found at HERE.

• Artists should carefully read the Guidelines for Design provided by the Department of Transportation before submitting their design proposal.  Artwork that does not fit the guidelines, will not be considered.

• Artwork submitted after the submission deadline can not be accepted.

• All questions about the project, submitting a proposal, design guidelines, timeline or other aspect of the project should be directed to The Lake George Arts Project: Tanya Tobias, Executive Director: [email protected]

Selection process:

4 submissions will be chosen by a panel of representatives from LGAP and the Village of Lake George.  Artists will be notified in May 2022.

Artist Compensation:

Artists will receive $1000.00 ($500 once selected and $500 at the completion of the project) inclusive of all artist’s fees, paints and materials. Selected artists will have to provide a W-9 form to The Lake George Arts Project prior to receiving payment.
